Galleria - Area Hotel Takes On New Moniker

March 1, 2005 - Houston, TX

The Doubletree Hotel Houston-Post Oak officially became the Hilton Houston Post Oak Tuesday following completion of a $15 million renovation

The Hilton Houston Post Oak is the first Hilton-branded hotel in the Galleria area. The property is located on Post Oak between San Felipe and Westheimer.

A major renovation at the property included updates to guestrooms, common areas and the building's exterior.

All 448 guest rooms were completely re-built to meet Hilton standards. The hotelier's contemporary design touches each room, which has new bedding, furniture, bathrooms and fixtures.

The rooms have wireless high-speed Internet connectivity and an ergonomic work area. Wireless Internet access is also available around the pool and in the restaurant.

The hotel also has a new executive lounge on the top floor. And new wall coverings and carpet were added to most of the property's 30,000 square feet of meeting space.

The extensive remodeling was first announced last June as part of a larger renovation project that included the Doubletree Hotel Houston-Allen Center.

The local properties were part of a six-hotel renovation project by Slohat Hotels L.P., a joint venture of affiliates of USAA Real Estate Co. and Hilton Hotels Corp. The hotels are managed by DT Management, Inc., an affiliate of Hilton Hotels Corp.

Other hotels in this enhancement project include the Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County in California, the Doubletree Hotel Tulsa Downtown, the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center St. Louis and the Doubletree Hotel Overland Park-Corporate Woods in Kansas.
